Another Week as a Missionary

Hey family! Thank you so much for your letters and emails. I really do love hearing how y'all are doing and what's going on in your lives. Things are going great here in Texas! The weather is starting to warm up and we are getting out there and teaching people who have been prepared for the gospel. It's so amazing to be amongst so many miracles that we know the Lord is making possible. We have a few people who are getting baptized in March and we are so excited! Felicia, one of our investigators, is going to get baptized and after we taught her the Word of Wisdom the next time we went to see her we followed-up on how she was doing and she went to the fridge, took out her last beer and poured it down the drain. She said "I saved that one to show you I was done and I didn't know it was in my fridge" Hahaha :) I love that she wants to follow the savior so much she's willing to make the necessary changes to become more like him. What a faithful woman she is and such an example to me! Gretchen, our recent convert, also went to the temple for the first time on Thursday night and absolutely loved it! :) When we asked her how it went she said "I feel like I died and went to heaven" Hahah Great! Cause that's the closest place you can be to heaven on the earth. What a great opportunity we have to be a part of the church and perform saving ordinances for those who didn't have the opportunity in this life! I miss the temple and I wish I could go there more, but I know that missionary work for the living is so important as well and I'm grateful to be a part of it! So... whenever we go to visit Chris, our other recent convert, we drive by a house that has girl scout cookies for sale. I told Sister Tanner that we were going to stop there sometime cause I wanted cookies. After we got done visiting Chris we stopped there to share a message and hopefully in return get some cookies. I didn't have cash! But, this wonderful couple wants to have a discussion sometime about what we believe! Thanks to my Thin Mint fettish, we've found some people who may want to learn more! :) There aren't many highlights for this week. I've had a pretty hard time the last 2 weeks with the news of Grandma Terry and with Grandpa Terry passing away. The greatest thing I know about these challenges is we can overcome it through the Savior. I know the Lord is aware of me and my situation and aware of my family. What a great gospel we are a part of to know where grandpa is now. We were teaching a lesson last night about the plan of salvation and I had been praying to know for myself that it's true and that grandpa is okay. I received my answer by a small feeling that grandpa was sharing the message with me and that it was true. Through these are times I'm grateful to be here on my mission and see that the gospel can help anyone in any situation. I know that it's true. I know the Lord lives. Thank you for all y'all do for me. I truly appreciate it and love you so much! Have a good week. With all my love from Texas, Sister Tawny Sylar
